Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Google Ice Cream Sandwich gets official
After all the leaks and rescheduling of events. Well the wait is finally over, now official Samsung Galaxy Nexus was introduced in the long awaited event in Hong Kong.
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be available in both LTE and HSPA+ depending on the country. It is confirmed to feature a huge 4.65” Contour Display that Samsung referred as HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display a staggering screen resolution of 1280 x 720, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 1080p high def video recording, 3.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 3.0, embedded NFC chip, 1,750 mAh battery, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and a barometer. and the handset will pack in either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage.
With all this features the handset continues to pack all into a shell that’s 8.9mm thick and a 4.29mm thin bezel that’s able to keep the display very close to the edge of the handset.
Galaxy Nexus also packs the latest in software called Ice Cream Sandwich which features a new font called Roboto that’s optimized for HD displays and eliminated all hardware buttons in favor of adaptable software buttons, dramatically improved the keyboard, more interactive notifications, re-sizable widgets, desktop-class browser featuring a refined tab manager and the ability to sync your bookmarks with Google Chrome.
Ice Cream Sandwich also features the best mobile Gmail experience to date, with a new design that lets you quickly swipe through your inbox and search messages even when you’re offline. Calendar boasts a clean new look and you can zoom into your schedule with a pinch.
Galaxy Nexus sports a high-end camera with zero shutter lag, automatic focus, top notch low-light performance and a simple way to capture panoramic pictures. Shoot amazing photos or 1080p video, and then edit and share them directly from your phone.
Android Beam, which uses near field communication (NFC) to instantly share webpages, YouTube videos, maps, directions and apps by simply tapping two phones together. Face Unlock uses state-of-the-art facial recognition technology to unlock your phone with nothing more than a smile.
