India has overtaken the United States to become the world’s top contributor of SPAM
For the first time, India has overtaken the United States to become the world's top contributor of SPAM, a junk email or junk newsgroup postings and not a canned precooked meat product made by the Hormel Foods Corporation. According to the compiled report by security firm Sophos, India is now responsible for 9.3 per cent of the world's spam, up from 8 per cent last year with the US in second place (8.3%) and South Korea (5.7%) in third.
Sophos also claims that many first-time computer users in rapidly growing economies become victims of such attacks and their PCs turn into a spam-spewing zombies. While India's share has increased, Sophos also reports that the total amount of email spam floating around the internet has actually decreased so far this year.
Spam is just annoying! Never knew that SKorea was 3rd in such activity. Well, I guess that would support their being high-tech with Samsung and all. So I guess India was also #1 last year as being the best spammer because it's stated in the post that US was 2nd? So I guess it has overtaken US ever since last year?
ReplyDeleteNope, India only overtakes the US this year only.
