DOTC to provide FREE MRT and LRT rides to government employees on September 19, 2012!
The Civil Service Commission, in cooperation with the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) through the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), will provide free MRT and LRT rides to government employees on September 19 as part of the 112th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration.
All government employees, with valid and updated ID cards, can avail of the free rides in both MRT and LRT, said CSC in a statement.
Government employees can avail themselves of free MRT rides from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and of free LRT rides from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Workers taking the MRT must present their recent and valid office IDs to assigned security personnel and log their names before being issued a boarding pass. Passes must be surrendered to the guard on duty upon getting off the MRT.
Further, those taking LRT must present their recent and valid office IDs to the designated station teller. Also, commuters of LRT must exit before 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. to avoid paying the regular fare.
Meanwhile, SM Department Store will be offering a special three-day sale for government employees nationwide from September 17 to 19.
The special sale will include a five percent discount on all regular items for every minimum purchase of P500; 10 percent for every minimum purchase of P500 and upon presentation of SM Advantage Card, SM Prestige Card, MOM Card or Banco De Oro Reward Card.
Government workers must show their valid office or Government Service Insurance System IDs for validation.
The special promo, however, excludes purchases at Snack Exchange, Camera Shop, Customer Service Counters, and items like chemical, toiletries, diapers, pharmacy, small appliances, business machines and other promo items. The promo also applies to minimum purchases of P500 only.
