12,000 runners join the 36th National Milo Marathon Iloilo Leg Elimination on October 28, 2012!
The Youth and Sports Development Division of the city government is preparing this city for its hosting of the 36th National Milo Marathon Iloilo Leg Elimination on Oct. 28. More details after the jump.
“We have been part of this ‘biggest, longest and grandest running event in the country’ for seven years now and we are truly proud to host this marathon,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.
Sports development officer Rommel Castro said they have already reached their target number of 12,000 runners as of today, Oct. 16.
Those who registered for the 3-kilometer run numbered 2,000; 5-kilometer, 9,500; 10-kilometer, 250; and 21-kilometer, 250.
“We cannot add more runners because that is already the maximum capacity our route can take,” he explained.
The run starts at Luna Street in front of the West Visayas State University going to General Luna Street then turn right at Diversion Road going to Pavia, Iloilo, then back to Iloilo Sports Complex in La Paz district.
Gun time for the 3-kilometer and 5- kilometer run is 5:30 a.m.; 10-kilometer, 5:00 a.m.; and 21- kilometer, 4:30 a.m.
The winners will be qualified to run for the national finals in Metro Manila on Dec. 9. (Iloilo City PIO)
