Globe prepaid base in full swing, boosts segment with new ‘unlimited' offer!

Globe Telecom has announced that its prepaid brand Globe Prepaid added close to 1.4 million subscribers over the last 12 months since end-June 2011. According to KD Dizon, Head of Globe Prepaid, the brand posted subscriber base growth in both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year comparisons amidst a highly-saturated and mature mobile industry on the back of innovative and value-for-money prepaid offers.

As of first half 2012, Globe Prepaid subscribers stood at 16.1 million, 9% above last year's level of 14.7 million subscribers and a 2% increase from previous quarter's 15.8 million. With Globe Prepaid accounting for 51% of total Globe mobile subscriber base, second quarter gross acquisitions remained strong with 3 million new subscribers, 2% better than last quarter's level of 2.9 million. Cumulative gross acquisitions for the first half of the year were likewise up 6% from 5.6 million last year to 5.9 million new SIMs this period.

"Globe Prepaid remains in full swing in 2012 with robust subscriber additions in the first half of the year despite intensifying competition and the behavior of prepaid subscribers who often switch SIMs or networks to maximize their cellphone load," revealed Dizon.
