Iloilo City made it to the shortlist of top five finalists for the prestigious Gawad Pamana ng Lahi (GPL) award of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), following its win in the regional level. This was confirmed by DILG city director, Atty. Ferdinand Panes during Wednesday’s meeting with City Hall department heads and chiefs of offices presided by Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog. More details after the jump.
“This is indeed a big accomplishment for us as we continue to build our governance on transparent and accountable leadership. We hope we can make it to the top,” Mabilog said.
The GPL is an award for exemplary performance in local governance.
Iloilo City will be subjected to an on-site validation by a member of the National Team of Validators.
Bituin Torte, industry manager of Geodata Systems Technologies, Inc. from Pasay City, will conduct the validation on Oct. 7 to 10.
When it won in the regional level, Iloilo City bested the cities of San Carlos and Sagay, both from the province of Negros Occidental, which placed second and third, respectively.
Panes said Iloilo City rated high in different performance indicators especially in the Anti-Red Tape Act Report Card Survey (ARTA-RCS).
“From mere acceptable last year, it became excellent this year with point score of 93.7,” he stated.
Aside from the ARTA-RCS, Iloilo City also scored high in the Local Governance Performance Management System Overall Performance Index (LGPMS-OPI), innovations and awards won, and the Seal of Good House Keeping (SGH).
