PNP proposes installation of CCTVs in all business establishments nationwide!
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is proposing that all business establishments nationwide install closed circuit television or CCTV security systems. PNP chief Nicanor A. Bartolome said the measure is one of his proposals to Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas in the next meeting of the National Peace and Order Council (NPOC).
“This is just a small investment on the part of business operators that will eventually translate to higher returns as losses due to crime are diminished,” Bartolome said adding that CCTV is a good security investment.
According to Bartolome, their proposal seeks to replicate and expand local ordinances adopted by some local government units requiring business establishments to install CCTV security systems as a requirement for issuance of business permit.
The PNP chief also said he will convince members of the NPOC to adopt the measure for nationwide implementation by all LGUs in the country.
Meanwhile, PNP Spokesman, Chief Supt. Generoso R Cerbo Jr. said CCTV security systems amplify the certainty of arrest and punishment of criminal offenders, thus, increasing its crime deterrent effect.
According to PNP, most key cities in the country have already adopted the measure requiring business establishments to install CCTV security systems as a requisite for issuance of business license and permit to operate.
The PNP added that local government units who have adopted the CCTV security system has helped them in their peace and order situations. (PNP-PIO/RJB/JEG-PIA NCR)
