Smart Build More: Online game gets “screen-agers” to build more, learn more!
A new game from educational website Jakenpoy.com and leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), is encouraging today’s tech-savvy youth to put their math skills to the test as they compete against students from other schools. Known as Smart Build More, the multi-player game challenges thousands of students from Jakenpoy.com’s affiliate schools to “build” the tallest virtual class building by answering a series of math questions. More details after the jump.
“At Smart, we believe that our services allow our subscribers to Live More,” said Smart Broadband Internet and Data Services Head Lloyd Manaloto. “And part of Living More is Learning More which is why we believe in supporting Jakenpoy.com,” he added.
Students are grouped according to their respective sections and may answer questions either individually or simultaneously on different computers. Each correct answer contributes a virtual brick which will add to the construction.
As the structures rise, teams would be able to compare their class buildings to famous real-world structures such as the Empire State Building, the Eiffel Tower, or even the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.
Smart will award the class that has built the tallest building by the end of November.
“We believe Smart Build More will appeal to ‘screen-agers’ because they can play it on desktops, laptops, and even on tablets,” said Jakenpoy.com founding partner Mark Ruiz. “It’s exciting, it’s enjoyable, but more importantly it’s educational,” he added.
Smart Build More follows the official curriculum of the Department of Education (DepEd). The game also allows both parents and teacher to access to a child’s individual performance record.
Created in June 2012, Jakenpoy.com also features several other games which tackle different subjects such as language and science. All Jakenpoy games are free to play.
