Smart introduces stress-free data roaming alerts and unlimited data roaming for only $10!

Postpaid Smart subscribers traveling abroad now have another layer of defense against data roaming bill shock, as Smart offers regular text notifications about their data usage. Via the free Data Roaming Alerts feature, Smart will send roaming subscribers an SMS once they incur P1,000 in data charges. Additional roaming alerts will be sent for every incremental usage of P5,000 thereafter.

“Our postpaid subscribers abroad can now visit their favorite social networking sites and check their email without fear that they would exceed their roaming budget. Data Roaming Alerts gives them more control over their data usage,” said Smart’s Executive Vice President and Head of Wireless Consumer Division Emmanuel Lorenzana.

“Aside from giving our customers superior and reliable services, we also want to give them peace of mind when they are out of the country. You cannot put a price tag on that,” he added.

Unlimited data roaming for $10
If subscribers are roaming on member networks of the Conexus Mobile Alliance, which include Hutchison in Hong Kong and Macau and StarHub in Singapore, they will get unlimited surfing capabilities for only US$10 a day.

“Postpaid Smart subscribers availing themselves of the longstanding unlimited roaming service do not have to turn off data access on their smartphone or tablet because they will be charged a flat rate no matter how much data they consume. This affordable $10 cap is the ultimate tool against bill shock,” said Tina Mariano, Group Head of Smart’s Global Access and International Services.

To enjoy the service, Smart subscribers should click on the “Settings” option on their phone, go to “Network,” choose “Operator Selection,” and click on “Manual.” They can then select from the following Conexus member-networks:

• Hutchison in Hong Kong and Macau
• StarHub in Singapore
• Indosat in Indonesia
• MTNL/ BSNL in India
• NTT Docomo in Japan
• TrueMove in Thailand
• Far Eastone in Taiwan
• KTF in South Korea
• Vinaphone in Vietnam
