Iloilo's Historic First International Flight Today

November 8, 2012 - Today, is a red-letter day for Iloilo City and all Ilonggos. The first-ever international outbound flight from Iloilo to HongKong takes off at 10:00 pm at the Iloilo International Airport. Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, who worked hard bringing the Iloilo international flights to reality, said passengers on the first historic flight will be feted during a program organized by Cebu Pacific at the Plazuela de Iloilo along Diversion Road. Tomorrow, November 9, the first inbound international flight from Hongkong to Iloilo will be flying in at 6:00 am. The passengers will be met by Dinagyang drummers and given leis. The night of the same day will witness the 10:00 pm flight from Iloilo to Singapore.

And on November 10, a group of Singaporean travel agents will be aboard the 6:00 a.m. return flight to Iloilo. The Singaporeans will be here for travel exchanges, familiarization with Iloilo City and cooking up tour packages for Iloilo-Singapore-Iloilo.

All told, Mayor Jed said there will be three flights weekly to Hong Kong and three flights weekly to Singapore.
