NBA Superstar Kobe Bryant and Lenovo Partner on Smartphones
Lenovo recently announced that the company and Kobe Bryant, NBA and L.A. Lakers superstar shooting guard, have entered into a strategic marketing partnership to launch Lenovo smartphones and tablets and to enhance the Lenovo brand in China and Southeast Asia.
“We are a company of Doers – from engineering cutting-edge technology to putting it in the hands of people to allow them to do amazing things,” said David Roman, chief marketing officer, Lenovo. “This new partnership epitomizes our brand objective by highlighting how our devices give someone as accomplished an athlete as Kobe Bryant, the tools to do more and to continue inspiring generations of fans around the world to pursue their dreams.”
The partnership aligns the qualities inherent in Lenovo’s PC Plus devices and its For Those Who Do brand with Kobe’s personal brand qualities – leadership, endurance, speed and strength. The year long relationship includes joint marketing activities such as advertising, events, social media and more that integrate key Lenovo products in Kobe’s tradition of basketball excellence.
“I am excited to partner with a market-leader like Lenovo,” said Bryant. “I work to pursue excellence in all that I do, and I believe that Lenovo shares that brand DNA and is going to set itself apart as a technological leader for smartphones across Asia.”
At the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show, Lenovo recently announced its flagship IdeaPhone K900 coming soon to markets around the world. This super-slim premium smartphone blends the ideal of design and performance in a 5.5-in IPS screen, one of the best camera arrays available in class and a super slim 9mm profile, all running on an Intel® Atom processor. As the quickly approaching #1 smartphone maker in China, Lenovo is aggressively expanding its smartphone portfolio outside of China, starting with India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam in 2012 with plans for dozens more countries in 2013. Together these markets represent approximately 45 percent of the world’s population.
Additionally, Lenovo remains laser focused on tablets with many new Android and Windows-8 devices, such as the IdeaPad Lynx and ThinkPad Tablet 2 and will work with Bryant to profile these PC Plus products.
