Three subscription fraudsters nabbed by Globe security team in Cebu City

Three fraudsters in Cebu City were arrested recently by Globe Telecom security team after they submitted fake documents to apply for postpaid accounts and avail of high-end mobile phones. Facing charges of Estafa and violation of the Anti Alias Law are Ryan Cleofe, 29, Esmeralda Morales, 28, and Filoteo Tome, Jr. who were accosted in separate incidents at various Globe Stores in Cebu City.

"These people try and obtain postpaid accounts using fraudulent IDs with the intent of never paying for them and also to get the high-end unit which normally comes free with a subscription. Globe does not condone these illegal activities and is serious in pursuing the prosecution of anyone found violating the law," said Atty. Froilan M. Castelo, Head of Globe Corporate and Legal Services Group.

Cleofe, a former Keppel employee, used bogus documents with the name Ervin Abellanosa when he applied for a new phone. During tactical interview, it turned out that the suspect had previously acquired three high-end postpaid units from different Globe Stores in Cebu using the alias Evelio Sullano.

On the other hand, Morales, a Tondo resident and Zest Air employee twice falsified her Globe Postpaid application forms and supporting documents by using the name Esperanza Deang.

Recovered from Cleofe are four high end postpaid units -- three iPhone 5 and one Samsung Galaxy while Morales yielded a Samsung Note 2 and a Samsung Galaxy S3.

Meanwhile, Tome, a regular employee of Aurora Entertainment and Restaurant, was caught using distinct names in his Globe postpaid applications bearing similar ID picture and company profile. Tome was able to get one iPhone 4, two iPhone 4S, and two iPhone 5 under the names John Michael Abella, John Michael Teves, Jhun Christian Teves, Filoteo Abella, and Fileteo Tomme.

The three are now detained at PNP Cebu for filing of criminal charges.
