Nokia Philippines announces new general manager, new Lumia smartphone and renewed partnership
Nokia recently announced the appointment of Karel Holub as its new General Manager in the Philippines. Holub, a Czech native, brings to Nokia Philippines an impressive track record of management expertise from his sixteen-year career in the telecommunications industry, eight of which he spent at Nokia. He has worked with developers, operators, distributors and retailers and has a solid background in tactical planning for promotions and retail merchandising, including marketing communication and delivery of strategic messages across all touch points.
His current assignment coincides with the launch of the Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone in the Philippines and the announcement of SMART Telecoms’ exclusive partnership to carry Nokia’s high-end smartphone.
The Nokia Lumia 920, touted as the world’s most innovative smartphone has an amazing 4.5” Pure Motion HD+ display with Clear Black technology. It resists even the brightest sunlight and delivers sharp and blur-free content for the best outdoor viewing experience on any smartphone.
Nokia’s signature PureView imaging technology and Carl Zeiss optics allow users to capture the most amazing images on a smartphone. With Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a revolutionary floating lens built in, users get stunning, blur-free and crystal clear images, even while on-the-move or taking pictures in low-light conditions.
The Nokia Lumia 920 provides quality photos and videos integrated with Nokia Smart Shoot capabilities, so you can shoot multiple photos with a single click, and create the perfect snap shot customized to your liking. With Cinemagraph, your Nokia Lumia device turns into a little editing suite, allowing you to edit images, put on amazing filters and create fun GIF images with moving objects or people.
With Nokia City Lens, you can point your camera at a specific street while walking around town, and get access to information about restaurants, shops, hotels and much more! It is the most intuitive way to explore your surroundings.
Users can get the most out of their Nokia Lumia 920 with Windows Phone 8. They can do more with Microsoft Office, Xbox Live, 7GB SkyDrive cloud storage and surf the Web faster and safer with Internet Explorer 10. Customizable Live Tiles update direct from the Start Screen, People Hub brings all personal contact information in a single location, and the Me Tile allows people to check-in to their location, post an update, set chat status, and monitor notifications across Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
The Nokia Lumia 920 comes with Nokia’s largest ever battery (2000mAh) and, for the first time, built-in wireless charging for an easy, convenient way to get more out of every day. Take your pick from red, yellow, white, and black colors and find them in Nokia Stores with a suggested retail price of P26,990. It will also be offered exclusively to SMART subscribers soon.
With this long list of features of the Nokia Lumia 920, Karel is quite positive about their latest smartphone. “I am very optimistic and enthusiastic about the prospects of Lumia in the Philippines,”says Holub, who prior to this assignment, was the General Manager for South CIS countries based in Kazakhstan, where he contributed greatly in transforming the Nokia mobile phone operations in the emerging markets of Caucasus, Central Asia and Mongolia from export mode to domestic mode. Besides Nokia, Holub has also worked at Mobil.cz, Celadon Group, GOOGGI/Digitania Czech Republic and Vodafone Czech Republic.
He is replacing Dharmesh Ghoshalia who chose to move back to Greece for personal reasons.
