Smart provides “libreng tawag” for Holy Week



People travelling to the provinces for the Holy Week can avail of free call services courtesy of wireless leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) at the Araneta Center Provincial Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City starting Monday, March 25, up to Maundy Thursday, March 28.  Both domestic and international calls can be availed of – free of charge. Smart will also be deploying free call stations for north- and south-bound motorists plying the expressways in the following locations: NLEX-Shell Balagtas, north bound on March 27-28; NLEX-Total San Simon, north bound (March 27-28); NLEX- Petron Lakeshore, north bound (March 27-28); SCTEX Camp Tarlac segment, east bound (March 27-28); SCTEX Camp Tarlac segment, Manila bound (March 31); SCTEX Camp Subic segment, west bound (March 27-28); SCTEX Camp Subic segment, Manila bound (March 31); SFEX-Total east bound (March 27-28 and 31); NLEX-Shell Mexico, south bound (March 31); NLEX-Mega Caltex San Fernando, south bound on March 31; NLEX-Shell of Asia, Guiguinto, south bound (March 31); and Caltex Paranaque Cavitex (March 27-28).

The Libreng Tawag service in the Araneta bus terminal is part of a group-wide effort among companies belonging to the Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) and PLDT Group for public assistance during the Lenten season.

Sister-firm, TV5, is taking the lead with its Rescue 5 First Aid Stations, which will be deployed not only in the Araneta bus terminal but also along the North Luzon Expressway this coming week through its Rescue 5 Kaakibat sa Semana Santa project.

Apart from Smart and TV5, Maynilad Water Services and One Meralco Foundation will also be making available free water and electronic device charging services, respectively.

The volume of passengers is expected to surge in key transportation hubs next week as people troop to the provinces in observance of the Holy Week.

With Smart’s libreng tawag service, the public can avail of the free calls at the station while waiting for their buses to depart.

Providing free calls is a staple in Smart’s suite of services under its corporate social responsibility to aid the public not only in times of disasters but also during red-letter holidays such as the observance of the Lenten season as well as to honor dear departed ones during November.
