D-Link Launches New Series of SOHO Unmanaged Switches with EEE Compliance
D-Link SOHO Unmanaged Switches Reduces Energy Consumption, Eco-Friendly & Economical! |
D-Link just introduced its latest series of SOHO unmanaged switches. Making use of D-Link’s Green Technology, the switches are designed to provide energy savings whilst reducing heat, and providing a longer product life without sacrificing performance and functionality. In addition, the device itself is truly environmentally friendly with the minimized use of harmful substances (RoHS compliant).
This new series of SOHO unmanaged switches range from 5/8-Port, Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet which provides customers with a quick and easy way to expand and upgrade their existing network to Gigabit connectivity.
With a simple plug-and-play function, users need simply connect the switch to quickly setup a fast, reliable and efficient wired network in your home or office. Its compact design also allows it to be placed in any convenient location, with any unsightly ports handily tucked away at the rear.
IEEE 802.3az Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE)
IEEE 802.3EEE is the first standard in the history of Ethernet to address proactive reduction in energy consumption for networked devices. The IEEE 802.3 EEE standard defines mechanisms and protocols intended to reduce the energy consumption of network links during periods of low utilization, by transitioning interfaces into a low-power state without interrupting the network connection.
D-Link’s Green Technology
D-Link Innovative “Green Ethernet” Technology implements special power-saving features that detect cable length and link status and adjust power usage accordingly. Green Ethernet Technology saves energy in two specific ways:
- If there is no link on a port, such as when there is no computer connected to the port or the connected computer is powered off, Green Ethernet Technology will enter a "sleep mode", drastically reducing power used for that port.
- D-Link Green Ethernet detects the length of connected Ethernet cable and adjusts power usage accordingly without affecting performance. This way, a port connected to a 20m cable only uses as much power as it needs, instead of using full power, which is only needed for 100m cables.
Environmentally-friendly
Designed with the environment in mind, the new series of switches are built to follow RoHS standards to minimize usage of hazardous materials. With the use of recyclable packaging, it helps to reduce waste and thus comply to the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive.
Availability
The new series of SOHO unmanaged switches (DES-1005A/DES-1008A Hardware E1, DGS-1005A/DGS-1008A Hardware C1) will be available at all other authorized retailers, resellers and distribution partners by Q3 2013.
