Lenovo recently announced the appointment of Michael Ngan as Country General Manager, Lenovo Philippines. Ngan, a member of the Lenovo East Asia Region Leadership Team reporting directly to Koh Kong Meng, President and General Manager, Lenovo East Asia Region, will be based in Manila and will be responsible for driving sales and growth of Lenovo in the Philippines.
Ngan, who formerly served as the Lenovo ASEAN SMB Leader, was responsible for optimizing Lenovo’s unique product and brand offerings for small & medium businesses across ASEAN. Under his leadership, the ASEAN SMB business saw its market share grow from 6.4% in 2011 to a record high of 10.8% in the second quarter of calendar year 2013. Focused on expanding Lenovo’s leadership in the SMB commercial space, Ngan led hypergrowth countries like Indonesia and Thailand to # 1 & # 2 positions for most SMB PC’s sold in Q1CY2013 (source IDC) and tripled the ASEAN VAR (Value Added Reseller) channel base in 2.5 years.
Before joining Lenovo, Ngan held numerous management positions, including serving as CPL Philippines, Inc.’s Country Sales Manager and as an IBM Business Manager for MIP Philippines, Inc. (A Metro Systems Group of Thailand company).
“The Philippines is one of the countries that recently saw double-digit growth, contributing to Lenovo’s position as the #1 PC maker globally. The appointment of Michael, Lenovo’s former Small and Medium Business (SMB) Leader for ASEAN, reinforces Lenovo’s business strategy to further strengthen the company’s market leadership in the PC space in the Philippines, expand its current market share in the PC Plus market and grow our smartphone and tablet business, in our efforts to become the global leader in the PC Plus world. Michael has an excellent track record in growing our business in the Philippines prior, and in leading our SMB business across ASEAN, I am confident he will take our operations in the Philippines to new heights,” said Koh Kong Meng, President and General Manager, Lenovo East Asia Region.
