Globe launches BangonPinoy portal for restoration updates and relief efforts after typhoon Yolanda

Globe BangonPinoy Portal

Globe Telecom gathers important information during this time of crisis with up to the minute network updates, emergency services, relief operations, donation details and emergency hotlines through its enterprise-wide disaster response initiative BangonPinoy.

Using the portal and Twitter #BangonPinoy, Globe hopes to raise awareness on various humanitarian services and partners that are available to the public during this time of disaster. The program, first introduced in 2009 after typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng, has allowed communities devastated by the recent calamity to benefit from relief operations, free call and text services, network restoration, and a series of community-rebuilding activities.

"BangonPinoy is the Globe way of responding to the needs of our customers and the Filipino nation during these times. Through this initiative we can pool together resources from partners and stakeholders who are willing to help rebuild the lives of many Filipinos devastated by the disaster," shares Ernest L. Cu, President and CEO of Globe.

The portal has five key features: Network Updates, Emergency Services, Relief Operations, How You Can Help, and Emergency Hotlines.

  • The Network Updates (http://beta.globe.com.ph/bangonpinoy/network-updates) page informs the public network availability in disaster-hit areas. Service indicators are color coded for easier reference: RED means no service, while ORANGE to GREEN ensures availability of call and text services.
  • The Emergency Services (http://beta.globe.com.ph/bangonpinoy/emergency-services) page includes the complete list of GlobeLibrengTawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng Internet stations. It has detailed information on how subscribers can avail of GlobeBangonPinoy Free Text that gives Globe and TM subscribers in Visayas 25 free texts per day (20 All Net + 5 international), and GTSOS, an Emergency Text service valid for 2 days, as well as free Facebook.
  • The Relief Operations feature takes you directly to the Press Room, where you can read about the various relief efforts spearheaded by Globe for Yolanda-affected areas.

BangonPinoy opens its services to those who are looking to donate in cash and kind through the portal's How You Can Help page. Complete information on how to donate via SMS to Red Cross, how to convert your rewards points to donations, where to drop off relief goods (through Globe Prepaid on the Go caravans and TM Republikaravans), and donations through Tattoo mobile WiFi purchase and Tattoo Home Broadband plan subscription can be found in How You Can Help. Cash donations may also be coursed through Ayala Foundation Inc.

Below every page in the BangonPinoy portal is a list of Emergency Hotlines of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Philippine Red Cross for easy reference in case of emergency.
