Smart unveils Street Smart: The best travel companion on your phone
Motorists and commuters can now equip themselves against the looming traffic crisis in Metro Manila with the launch of the Street Smart app bundle from mobile leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart). The perfect travel buddy for drivers and commuters alike, Smart’s new Street Smart offering packages six of the most common transportation, navigation and information apps into one affordable data bundle, available for as low as P10 a day.
Available under the Street Smart package are popular mobile apps such as Waze, a crowdsourced traffic navigation app; Easy Taxi, a taxi booking app; Pinoy Travel, a bus reservation app; NLEX Assist, a traffic and deal app for the North Luzon Expressway; RaincheckPH, a powerful app for rain updates; and the mobile website of InterAksyon.com, the online news portal of broadcasting firm TV5.
“With the so-called ‘carmageddon’ looming over Metro Manila due to a number of simultaneous road repairs and infrastructure projects, commuters and drivers alike need to be equipped with the latest tools and information to help them avoid traffic jams and delays on the road,” said Michele Curran, Data and International Services Marketing Head at Smart.
“The Street Smart bundle offers the perfect package that is easy on the pocket so drivers and commuters can ‘live more’ as Smart helps them reach their destinations safely, quickly, and conveniently,” Curran added.
The new data bundle was unveiled in time for the 7107 International Music Festival, a first-of-its-kind music event that gathers the best international bands and the most talented local acts in Clark, Pampanga, a key transport and commerce hub in North Luzon.
With Waze, drivers will be able to see which roads are clogged with vehicular traffic thanks to reports from fellow Waze users. The NLEX Assist app, on the other hand, guides drivers with the latest traffic situation on the expressway whenever they travel up north.
Commuters, meanwhile, can make better use of their time and skip long queues through the help of the Easy Taxi and PinoyTravel apps, which make it convenient to book their taxi or bus trips using only their mobile phones.
And since other factors such as rain, transport strikes and class suspensions also affect traffic situations, users would be better prepared by checking the RaincheckPH app or the InterAksyon.com mobile website for the latest news updates even before they step out of their homes.
“By equipping commuters and drivers with the latest information and services through these apps, they have the power to outsmart heavy traffic and arrive to their destinations on time,” Curran added.
To subscribe to the Street Smart bundle, Smart Prepaid subscribers only need to text STREET 10 (P10 for 1 day), STREET 50 (P50 for 7 days), STREET 99 (P99 for 15 days) or STREET 199 (P199 for 30 days) to 211. Street Smart packages will soon be available for Smart Postpaid subscribers, and other transport and navigation apps will be added in the future.
