Globe widens international presence with establishment of operating company in Spain
Globe Telecom further expands its footprint in Europe with the establishment of Globetel Internacional European Espana S.L. (Globetel Espana), the newest member of the Globe group of companies. It will handle the offering of various telecommunications services such as voice, SMS, load top-up and mobile data in Spain.
Globe also signed a memorandum of understanding with Ingenium Outsourcing Services, S.L.U. (IOS), a mobile virtual network aggregator based in Madrid. Globetel Espana is poised to launch telecoms services in Spain within the year.
Globe Chief Operations Officer & Executive Vice President for International and Business Markets Gil Genio says, "We are delighted to have IOS as our partner in running our operations in Spain, an important market for Globe as we aim to provide the best connectivity offers to Filipinos overseas. We are pleased to introduce the Globe brand of service to our countrymen in Spain, making it more affordable to keep in touch with their loved ones back in the Philippines."
Meanwhile, Globe Senior Vice President for International Business Rizza Maniego-Eala adds, "Establishing our retail footprint in Spain testifies to our commitment to reach the international Filipino market and provide them with affordable and relevant services that can connect them with those who matter most. This also solidifies our European presence, and with the combined Filipino population of those working in a variety of sectors, permanent migrants, seafarers and those visiting for business or leisure, we believe this is the appropriate time for the unveiling of more direct services for the local Filipino community there."
With this development, Spain becomes the eighth country where Globe has robust retail presence. Other countries include the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and Italy.
