Power Mac Center, DLSU boost partnership for better Apple offerings

For years, Power Mac Center has successfully collaborated with the De La Salle University (DLSU) through engaging opportunities that deliver a complete Apple experience to a wider audience. Coinciding with its 20th anniversary in the Apple business this 2014, Power Mac Center is also commemorating new milestones in the form of key projects aimed at better serving the Apple needs of DLSU and the general public.

As an Apple Authorized Education Reseller, Power Mac Center establishes presence inside the DLSU campus along Taft Avenue in Manila. This move from the country’s most reliable Apple partner is an innovative effort that gives the DLSU community a more convenient access to Apple technology and promotes a technology-empowered education system.

“With training and education among its core values, Power Mac Center is keen on helping educational institutions such as De La Salle University build their capabilities in this era of technology. The Power Mac Center presence in DLSU aligns with our pedagogical thrust and underpins the changing landscape of education and learning, said Power Mac Center Marketing Director Joey Alvarez.

For his part, Bro. Ricardo P. Laguda, DLSU President, said, “We hope that the Power Mac Center inside the DLSU campus will improve the quality of student life on campus, opening up for our students’ new ways of thinking and creating, now and beyond their stay in the University. We also hope that it would redefine how lifelong learning and lifestyle can change the way we view the world and the common good.”

Power Mac Center’s collaboration with DLSU also extends to the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), as the DLS-CSB campus will serve as the training venue for course offerings for persons with disabilities (PWDs). Through the Power Mac Center and CSB partnership, PWDs will now have access to free training courses on E-books Creation, Photography, and Movie Making.

Maleng Raysag, Training Manager for Power Mac Center Apple Authorized Training Center, said that PWDs are among the marginalized groups in the society since they do not receive the kind of social services that would help integrate them into the workforce and the society in general.

“Skills training is critical for PWDs as it will help empower them, building their self-confidence and creating a sense of accomplishment. With the training courses that Power Mac Center will offer at the DLSU-CSB campus, PWDs will now have convenient access to training programs that will aid their personal and professional development,” said Ms. Raysag.

DLS-CSB School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPaCE) Dean Reynaldo Amigan Mones added, “We at the College of Saint Benilde are very excited about our partnership with Power Mac Center because we need to do something to alleviate the situation of PWDs. We need to strengthen our efforts to assimilate them into the community, and these training programs will enable them to reach their potential by teaching them valuable skills that will guarantee equal opportunities for their livelihood and employment.”

The Power Mac Center and DLS-CSB SPaCE team-up will also offer Apple certification and non-certification programs for students, alumni and employees of DLS-CSB and the public, thereby ensuring a continuous learning process in the digital age. These programs include Mac Integration Basics 10.9 (Nov. 21-22, 2014); Mac Management Basics 10.9 (Nov. 26-27, 2014); Mavericks 101: OS X Support Essentials 10.9 (Jan. 14-16, 2015); Mavericks 201: OS X Server Essentials 10.9 (Jan. 28-30, 2015); Final Cut Pro X (Feb. 5-6, 2015); and iOS App Development (Mar. 2-7, 2015).
