Carmudi reveals global car color preferences and what they mean for car buyers

Carmudi, the easiest means to sell or buy your car online, has analyzed data based on more than 13 million visits to the company’s car classifieds website over the last three months. Silver and grey is most searched color of car in Latin America (25%) and Africa (33%), whereas white is the preferred choice in the Middle East (38%) and Asia (31%).
Around 2.8 million of Carmudi visitors searched for white cars in the last three months. Car buyers in Myanmar are most fanatical about white cars, with 42% searching for the color. To explain this popularity, many studies note that white cars hold significantly more value when compared to other car colors, 5% more to be precise. Blue cars lose the most value.
Interestingly, only 5% of Nigerians car buyers entered the color white as a preference. According to several of the comments cited on Nairaland, a leading Nigerian discussion forum, it seems that despite the fact that black cars are harder to maintain, Nigerian drivers prefer the masculine appeal of the color (25%), and so are willing to go that extra mile to keep them.
The color black accounts for about 21% of global car searches. Shockingly, one study concluded that black cars are 47% more likely to be in crashes than white vehicles. The Carmudi data shows that more than 160 thousand car buyers in Mexico, search for red cars.
