ZALORA partners with Mazda Philippines to introduce the limited-edition “M2 by Mark Bumgarner” Collection
The country’s leading online fashion house ZALORA Philippines and Japanese automotive brand Mazda recently collaborated to introduce the latest collection from local fashion designer Mark Bumgarner, entitled “M2 by Mark Bumgarner.” The exclusive collection is inspired by Mazda’s KODO design philosophy and will be featured on the ZALORA website as well as in their ZALORA Pop-up store.
The collection “M2 by Mark Bumgarner” represents the designer’s first endeavour in creating 100% handmade, ready-to-wear pieces. Highlighting the unity between fashion and the automotive industry, “M2 by Mark Bumgarner” features limited-edition pieces based on the KODO design philosophy of Mazda.
“In ZALORA, our love for fashion is what drives us to bring in the hottest items from the local and international runways straight to our customers’ doorsteps across the region. That is why we are Asia’s online fashion destination. Our partnership with Mazda Philippines and Mark Bumgarner is just one of our many efforts in supporting our local designers and giving them an avenue to make their mark in the competitive fashion world,” said Paulo Campos, Co-Founder and CEO of ZALORA Philippines.
“M2 by Mark Bumgarner” is a 100-piece limited-edition set inspired by the KODO design philosophy of Mazda. KODO, translated as “Soul of Motion” in Japanese, represents the power and elegance of a wild animal in the instant when it pounces on its prey. That is the essence of the ultimate Motion Form envisioned by Mazda, which can currently be seen in their line-up of award-winning vehicles such as the Mazda2 SKYACTIV. Meticulously hand-cut and hand-made, Bumgarner used the Mazda2 SKYACTIV as his inspiration in creating the M2 collection, taking cues from its design and character.
According to Bumgarner, “M2 combines two of my first loves – cars and fashion. Being able to find the connection between these two opposing worlds was a truly inspiring experience and I invite everyone to see the soul of motion in every piece.”
Recently named the winner of the prestigious 2014-2015 Japan Car of the Year, the all-new Mazda2 SKYACTIV will be made available in the Philippines starting August 2015.
“As an automaker, Mazda regards an automobile as more than an assembly of metal, nuts and bolts. A Mazda vehicle is a piece of art, beautifully crafted and finished in premium material, encasing state-of-the-art advanced SKYACTIV technology that delivers outstanding performance and fuel economy. This is the second time we have the honour to work with one of Manila’s premier fashion designer Mark Bumgarner – we both share the same goal of producing premium products that are both functional and beautiful. This time we delighted to partner with the premier online fashion house ZALORA to bring Mark’s ‘couture ready to wear’ collection to customers across Asia,” said Steven Tan, CEO and President of Mazda Philippines.
The “M2 by Mark Bumgarner” collection, together with a Mazda2 SKYACTIV model, will be showcased at the ZALORA Pop-Up Store in EDSA Shangri-la Mall for a limited time only, from July 28-August 2.
