Honda sales up 44 percent from January to October
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) sales rose by 44 percent to 16,046 units from January to October compared to the same period in 2014. This is a significant growth compared to the overall 22 percent sales increase of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) industry for the same period. For October alone, HCPI sold 1,786 vehicles -- up by 16 percent compared to the same month last year.
HCPI attributes its good sales to the strong market demand for its City, All-New Mobilio, and HR-V.
The City remains as HCPI’s best-selling nameplate among its 13 vehicle models. The City has 46 percent share in HCPI’s year-to-date sales with an 11 percent year-on-year growth. HCPI aims to increase its City sales with the introduction of another variant of the City, the New City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition early this month. Exclusive for the Philippine market, the New City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition is equipped with UV cut glass windows for the front doors, speed-sensing Auto Door Lock System, a panic button and free Sharp Plasmacluster with Ion Technology. Furthermore, the Special Edition also gets a new Ruby Red Pearl color option.
The next Honda best-seller is the All-New Mobilio. With only half a year in the market, Honda’s first seven-seater Multi-purpose Utility Vehicle (MUV) already contributes 14 percent to HCPI’s year-to-date sales. HCPI closed October sales with 506 units of All-New Mobilio sold. The All-New Mobilio’s modern and sporty styling, advanced technology, spacious cabin, flexible seats and comfortable sedan-like ride charm Filipino buyers.
With the successful vehicle introduction and positive market response, HCPI has increased its All-New Mobilio supply. “We are pleased to inform our customers that we have already stabilized our stock situation. The All-New Mobilio vehicles are now readily available at any Honda dealership nationwide”, said HCPI President and General Manager Toshio Kuwahara. Furthermore, the same situation has been established for the country’s best-selling luxury minivan, All-New Odyssey, with stocks available in all dealerships.
Another contributor to Honda’s sustained strong performance is the All-New HR-V, Honda’s new generation Crossover Compact SUV. It is designed to match the needs of customers who blend and balance career and active lifestyle. Since its debut in June, 807 units of the All-New HR-V have been sold.
“Our new models have significantly given boost to our monthly sales. The market’s response towards our new product line-up is truly encouraging. It inspires us to keep focused on improving our competitiveness in the market through our product line-up and services,” Kuwahara added.
