Mitsubishi Motors Philippines closes 2015 with record sales and registers 9th consecutive year of growth

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) registered an exceptional sales performance in 2015 selling a total of 54,087 units. This record-breaking performance is the highest vehicle sales volume that MMPC was able to achieve since 1996. Compared to its 2014 sales, MMPC’s sales modestly grew by 8%. Last year’s total sales figure marks MMPC’s ninth consecutive growth.
Meanwhile the combined report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) reported that the industry closed the year with its highest annual sales of 288,609 units. MMPC captured a double digit market share of 16.8% keeping its strong position as the second industry leader.
Apart from the remarkable and straight sales growth and success, increase on the Passenger Cars (PC) and Trucks were reflected in MMPC’s 2015 performance. MMPC sold a total of 17,982 units of PC which is significantly improved by 35.5% which is more than the segment growth as compared to the 13,270 PC sold in 2014. Total PC growth for 2015 is only 26.4%. MMPC’s passenger cars sales continue to surge because of the very well market acceptance of the Mirage (hatchback) and Mirage G4 (sedan). First time car buyers and even small to medium enterprise choose these models because of its practicality and superb features. Trucks sales also improved by 8.9% with 1,370 sold for 2015. Fuso trucks sales also improved due to its reliability and low maintenance cost.

MMPC is looking forward to an even better year this 2016. MMPC started the year with the grand launch of the highly anticipated mid-size sport utility vehicle the all-new Montero Sport. To date, MMPC has registered more than 2,800 reservations for the all-new Montero Sport. A public event the “We Love Mitsubishi Family Expo” was also held at the World Trade Center to celebrate the official release of the all new Montero Sport, to display Mitsubishi’s lineup and to treat its customers to a variety of activities. This event turned out to be the most successful MMPC public event remarkably drawing more than 10,000 visitors where in a number of visitors has already placed reservations onsite and signified intention to purchase a brand new Mitsubishi in the coming months.

Given the total industry sales forecast of 350,000 to 360,000 for this year, MMPC targets to sell 67,800 units and improve further its market share. The company is highly optimistic that with the refreshed vehicle lineup following the introduction of new models and significant model upgrades throughout the year, MMPC will be able to achieve its target. “With our exciting product lineup and combined marketing efforts, we are looking forward on achieving our goals for the year”, MMPC FVP for Marketing, Mr. Froilan Dytianquin said. MMPC is also expecting that the election spending during the first half and much easier car financing with low interest rates will be among the drivers for the attainment of its target sales.
