Health research conference to stage in Iloilo
How important is health research these days?
Researchers, health practitioners and managers and stakeholders once again convene in a biennial event dubbed as the 2nd Western Visayas Health Research Conference on October 20-21, 2016 at Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center.
Hosted by the Western Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (WVHRDC) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology Region VI (DOST VI) and the Department of Health Regional Office VI (DOH VI), the event spells opportunities to boost mechanisms in health research capabilities, encourage resource sharing among partner institutions, and promote the dissemination and utilization of quality health researches in the region.
This activity also serves as an excellent avenue for various stakeholders to come up with health solutions through research development.
Bannered by the theme, “Health Research for Everyone”, the participants can have access to plenary sessions on strategies to address research gaps and ethical issues in authorship and publication, policies in drug discovery and delivery, and capitalizing strengths in pharmacy, chemistry, chemical biology, natural products, and marine microbiology.
Aside from the Research Forums where 23 researches will be presented, there will also be competitions for researchers covering professionals and students to compete in the following categories: Undergraduate/Students Research Competition (Poster and Oral) and the Professional/Graduate Research Competition (Poster and Oral).
The conference likewise highlights these interesting topics: Health Situation in Western Visayas, Updates on Zika, Dengue and Substance Abuse, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
The WVHRDC mirrors the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) in hopes to underscore the role of research in the promotion of health for all.
