PLDT tapped MServ, one of the leading energy service companies in the Philippines, for an energy efficiency audit covering 139 establishments that will allow compliance to the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (RA 11285) and identification of opportunities for savings and operational efficiencies across the telco’s facilities nationwide. Also part of the engagement is MServ’s installation of new magnetic chillers which can help the telco save as much as 40% on chiller operational expenses. It will also conduct annual electrical facility preventive maintenance for 74 PLDT and Smart offices. Other projects with MServ include installation of indoor air quality solutions in PLDT offices, and full electrical reliability audit of ePLDT data centers.
PLDT also partnered with Spectrum, a renewable energy solutions provider, in adopting clean energy technologies. Spectrum will install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with a total capacity of 483.9 kilowatt-peak (kWp) in five PLDT sites within the Visayas region. These solar PVs will allow PLDT to generate approximately 635,845 kWh per annum, which translates to combined savings of up to P2 million annually. It will also reduce PLDT’s carbon footprint by 453 metric tons, which equates to 46,470 trees planted yearly.
