Nokia 6310 (2021) Unboxing and Review
Last October, Nokia Mobile catered to Filipinos’ love for feature phones with the introduction of the revamped Nokia 6310 (2021). The brand-new Nokia 6310 takes on the original and iconic silhouette of the classic version, but now with a 2.8-inch QVGA screen, accessibility features, 1,150mAh removable battery, a built-to-last body, and the 90s classic, Snake!
I was able to get my hands on one and this review will further help you in deciding if this phone is the one you are looking for. So, let's start with the unboxing.
Unboxing the Nokia 6310
The front portion of the package shows the Nokia 6310; while the phone key features are imprinted at the bottom portion of the box.
You can also find the Nokia 6310 print on the left and the phone image on the right.
Inside the Box and Accessories
Underneath the plastic that houses the Nokia 6310 are the following: micro-USB cable, charger, quick start guide, and headset.
Design and Walk Around
The new Nokia 6310 has taken the iconic shape of the original Nokia 6310 and has reimagined it for 2021. It is also built using a tough polycarbonate shell with a matte finish. I like this kind of finish because it is less susceptible to fingerprint smudges.
The Nokia 6310 is available in three colors: Dark Green, Black, and Yellow. Here in the Philippines, the Nokia 6310 is available only in Dark green color.
Nokia 6310 is equipped with a clear, curved 2.8-inch QVGA display. Found above the brand name Nokia is an earpiece that doubles as a loudspeaker.
There’s a 0.3MP VGA camera and a single LED flash found at the back.
Located at the bottom of the phone are: Micro-USB charging port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The buttons on the Nokia 6310 are made of plastic which are clicky and firm. Menu, directional, and call/end buttons have a glossy finish, while the T9 keypad has a matte finish. A microphone (tiny hole) can be found beside key #7.
After opening the back cover, it revealed the removable battery, dual SIM (regular size) card slots, and the microSD card slot. This unique placement is only available to feature phones.
The polycarbonate shell of the Nokia 6310 is strong enough to take on the knocks and bumps of everyday life. It is also very compact and light at 98g. It can be gripped easily and can effortlessly slide in and out of the pocket.
Display and Audio
The 2.8-inch TFT display produces vibrant colors, but the viewing angles are not that good and the screen could use a bit more boost in brightness so you can still use it outdoors comfortably. At 143ppi, the display is low-res but is good enough for viewing and reading text messages.
The audio quality of the loudspeaker found in the earpiece is like your typical feature phone at this price range. It can get loud and the audio quality is not that good. I recommend using headphones or an external speaker using the 3.5mm audio jack for better audio quality.
Camera
The Nokia 6310 rear camera features a 0.3MP VGA camera with LED flash. As expected, the rear camera produced low-quality images.
For video, the Nokia 6310 captures videos in QVGA (320 x 240) resolution.
Series 30+, Apps, and Security
The Nokia 6310 runs on the Series 30+ platform. The user interface is straightforward and is easy to navigate. There’s a web browser, Facebook, file manager, unit conversion, voice recorder, and 11 games including the modernized version of the classic game Snake.
The Nokia 6310 also features a wireless FM radio (no headset needed) and a convenient Accessibility mode. This functionality can automatically configure the view of the device to one icon at a time, enlarge the font for improved readability, and maximize the volume.
In terms of security, the Nokia 6310 is equipped with an automatic keyguard that can be secured with a code.
Hardware and Performance
The Nokia 6310 is powered by the Unisoc 6531F and comes with 8MB of RAM. The performance of the Nokia 6310 is decent for a feature phone; it is responsive when navigating the UI, opening apps, and communicating. However, there are also slight delays while taking and viewing a picture.
The Nokia 6310 is available in the Philippines in one storage variant - 16MB storage, which is tiny for storing your digital files. If you need additional storage, you can further expand the storage up to 32GB via its dedicated microSD card slot.
Battery Life, Charging, and Connectivity
The Nokia 6310 comes with a removable 1,150mAh battery with a battery life that lasts for weeks between charges, so you worry less about running out of power. The Nokia 6310 can provide up to 19.45 hours of talk time and 21.7 days of standby time.
Charging is slow with the included charger; the 1,150mAh battery can be fully charged up to 100% in about 2 hours.
Aside from the battery and charger, the Nokia 6310 has the usual connectivity features found in feature phones, like dual SIM (regular size) support, Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm audio jack, and micro-USB (USB 2.0).
