realme 9 Pro+ Unboxing and First Impression
In line with its mission to bring flagship innovations more accessible to every Filipino, realme recently launched its latest addition to its widely successful Number Series smartphones: the realme 9 Pro Series.
Designed to disrupt the mid-range category, the realme 9 Pro+ features a 50MP OIS rear camera with Sony IMX766 sensor, MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G Processor, a 90Hz Super AMOLED Display, Vapor Chamber Cooling System, and a 4,500 mAh battery with 60W SuperDart Charge.
I was able to get my hands on one and I am very excited to share with you my unboxing experience as well as my initial impression of the device. So, let's start with the unboxing.
Unboxing the realme 9 Pro+
As expected, the packaging comes in realme's signature yellow-colored box. The front portion indicates the realme 9 Pro+ branding; while the brand details—model number, IMEI number, serial number, color, and the four important features of the realme 9 Pro+, are imprinted on the back portion of the box.
You can also find the realme 9 Pro+ print on the left and the realme logo on the right.
Inside the Box and Accessories
After opening the lid of the box, you are greeted with these pleasing lines -- Hey, welcome to realme Family.
The pack contained a SIM card ejector tool, protective silicone case, quick guide, and important information guide with warranty card.
Underneath the pack is the realme 9 Pro+ smartphone wrapped in white matte plastic. Beneath is the 60W SuperDart Charge and USB type-C to USB-A charging cable. realme 9 Pro+ doesn’t come with headphones – you still have to provide your own.
After unboxing, let us now take a look at the physical overview and my first impression of the device.
Design and Walk Around
Committed to pushing the boundaries when it comes to product design, the realme 9 Pro+ comes with realme’s first Photochromism Design. This Light Shift design applies to the Sunrise Blue colorway, making the back cover shift from blue to red under direct sunlight exposure, giving the smartphone a premium, modern look. However, the phone’s glass back is very prone to fingerprint smudges, so it’s best to use the free protective silicone case right away.
If you like a more subtle and simpler look, realme 9 Pro+ is also available in Midnight Black and Aurora Green options. My unit comes in Aurora Green color.
On the front, the realme 9 Pro+ is equipped with a 6.4-inch FHD+ (1080x2400) Super AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass 5 and comes with a pre-installed screen protector. There’s also a punch-hole camera located at the upper left and the earpiece which doubles as a speaker is quite thin and discretely etched within the screen enclosure. While on the lower part of the screen is an in-display fingerprint scanner.
At the back is a rectangular-shaped camera module that houses the triple-camera set-up along with the single LED flash. The three cameras are the 50MP OIS main, the 8MP ultrawide, and the 2MP macro.
Found on the left are your standard volume rocker button and dual nano-SIM card tray. There is no microSD expansion on the realme 9 Pro+.
On the right is the power/lock button.
The top is clean with only the secondary noise-canceling microphone present.
At the bottom, you can find the USB Type-C charging port, downward-firing speaker, primary microphone, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
In addition to its premium design, the realme 9 Pro+ is also the brand’s slimmest Number Series smartphone yet with a width of 7.99mm or 0.3 inches. It is also light to hold at 182g, perfect for go-getters and people who prefer handy devices.
Internals
The realme 9 Pro+ boasts a MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G processor with an ARM Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, 8GB of RAM and it will be available in one storage variant - 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.
For a smooth gaming experience in various gaming applications, the realme 9 Pro+ is also equipped with a Vapor Chamber Cooling System which significantly reduces temperatures from core heat sources around the phone.
In addition, realme 9 Pro+ also supports 5G connectivity with Smart 5G Power Saving. In Smart 5G Power Saving the phone intelligently switches between 4G and 5G depending on usage scenario to save battery.
Lastly, the realme 9 Pro+ sports the realme UI 3.0 and Android 12. The realme 9 Pro+ has a 4,500mAh battery and 60W SuperDart Charge technology to complement the overall specs of the smartphone.
Cameras
As for the camera, the realme 9 Pro+ boasts a triple-camera set-up—consisting of the 50MP F1.8 primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization and uses a Sony IMX766 sensor with a Quad-Bayer filter and 1.0µm pixels. There's also an 8MP 119° F2.2 ultrawide camera and a 2MP F2.4 macro lens with a 4cm shooting distance. The front camera houses the lone 16MP in-display selfie camera.
The realme 9 Pro+ also features new updates from realme’s Street Photography Mode 2.0. This includes the Long Exposure Mode, Peak and Zoom, and the new 90's Pop filter.
