MDPPA: 932,220 Motorcycle Units Sold as of July 2023

The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA), composed of prominent manufacturers Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha, achieved a collective sales milestone with a remarkable 932,220 units sold during the first half of 2023, spanning January to July. This achievement signifies a notable 4.6% surge compared to the same period last year, which saw sales totaling 890,720 units.

With this notable feat, MDPPA conducted a comprehensive review of its sales targets for the balance year. Unanimously, its members agreed to achieve a modest yet steady five percent growth rate for motorcycle sales from August to December. This aspiration aims to culminate in an impressive cumulative sale of 1.6 million units by the end of 2023, surpassing the already remarkable 1.5-million-unit threshold achieved in the preceding year.

However, MDPPA noted that the projected growth is likely to be significantly affected by worldwide and local economic factors. Elements like rising prices and the lingering impacts of the pandemic, such as supply chain issues and a mix of rise on in-person and remote work setups, have contributed to a situation of slower growth.

MDPPA President Norminio "Boying" Mojica said that the sales performance during the first semester of this year could potentially mirror that of the subsequent semester.

“Drawing from historical trends, the months of September, October, and November have consistently exhibited heightened sales volumes, whereas the months of August and December have maintained an average profile in terms of monthly sales," he added.

This observation underscores MDPPA’s capability to recognize the seasonal fluctuations and analyze motorcycle sales patterns in the country.
