vivo V30 Full Review
The vivo V30 Series is being hailed as a revolutionary advancement in mobile photography. The vivo V30 boasts dual 50MP rear cameras and a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, providing studio-level portrait photography.
But the phone's appeal goes beyond its imaging capabilities. The vivo V30 is a performance powerhouse, thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, 5,000mAh battery, and 80W fast-charging technology.
Last week, we unboxed and shared our first impressions of the vivo V30. In this review, we will delve deeper into the features of this smartphone to help you decide if it's the right fit for you.
Design and Walk Around
Fans have long considered vivo to be a brand that offers top-notch innovations and visually pleasing designs. The brand's latest release, the vivo V30, features a new View Catcher Design that seamlessly integrates the camera and back panel. It's available in two color options inspired by Southeast Asia - Petals White and Green Sea. My unit comes in a Petals White color variant that features a "3D Petal Pattern" resembling blooming flowers and unfurling petals. This design is also less prone to fingerprint smudges and scratches.
The vivo V30 is a dual-glass curved phone with a plastic frame, weighing only 185g and measuring 7.45 mm in thickness. It is the thinnest 5,000mAh phone in its price bracket.
The phone's front side boasts a large 6.78-inch (1260 x 2800) AMOLED display that is safeguarded by a curved "Schott α" glass along with a pre-installed screen protector. The screen's top portion has a centered hole-punch camera, while the earpiece is subtly etched above the display. Additionally, the fingerprint reader is positioned below the screen.
At the back of the phone, there is a rectangular-shaped camera module which includes a dual-camera set-up and an LED flash with the square-shaped Aura Light surrounding it. The square glows and it can change colors from white, and yellow, to orange or red.
The phone's volume rocker button and power button are located on the right side, while the top of the phone is clean with only the secondary noise-canceling microphone present.
At the bottom of vivo V30, you'll find a USB Type-C charging port, downward-firing speaker, microphone, and dual SIM card tray. Sadly, the phone does not come with a 3.5mm audio jack and only has one speaker.
Display and Multimedia
The vivo V30 is a smartphone that features a large 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1260 x 2800 and a 120Hz refresh rate. This makes it a great device for those who like to multitask.
The AMOLED display panel produces vivid colors with excellent viewing angles. It has a peak brightness of 2,800 nits, which means that it can automatically adjust to brighten up even when used outdoors. The maximum overall brightness can reach up to 1,200 nits.
Although the device does not come with a dual speaker compared to its competitors, the loudspeaker's audio quality is good. The volume can get loud, but it lacks bass. If you're looking for a better audio experience, it is recommended to use headphones or an external speaker for better sound quality.
Cameras
Rear Cameras
Like its predecessors in the V series, the vivo V30 offers exceptional camera capabilities, including an upgraded Aura Light Portrait 3.0 feature that captures every shot beautifully, even in low-light settings. With its innovative technology, the V30 can preserve the natural beauty of your subjects, thanks to its light-emitting area that is 19 times larger and 50 times softer than standard flashes.
The vivo V30 boasts a dual-camera setup that includes a 50MP F1.9 primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Phase Detection autofocus (PDAF), and vivo's exclusive Camera-Bionic Spectrum (VCS) technology. Additionally, there's a 50MP F2.0 wide-angle camera with autofocus.
Quality from the rear cameras under bright lighting conditions is pretty great as you get vibrant colors, sharp details, and good dynamic range.
The 50MP main camera with OIS takes the phone’s low-light and night photography to the next level, producing impressive images with vivid colors and plenty of detail.
Front Selfie Camera
The front-facing camera is a 50MP F2.0 aperture camera that takes very detailed and sharp photos with real-life colors and natural skin tones. Although the background blurring for portrait selfies isn’t perfect, it is still good enough.
Video
For video, the vivo V30 supports up to 4K at 30fps for both the rear main camera and front camera. The V30 also comes with Aura Light Portrait Video feature that enhances video clarity in low-light conditions. Additionally, the Hybrid Image Stabilization (OIS + EIS) ensures smooth footage. Videos shot with the main camera are pretty good, with low noise, and a lot of detail.
Funtouch OS, Apps, and Security
The vivo V30 smartphone has a heavily customized user interface called Funtouch OS 14, which is based on the Android 14 operating system. Funtouch OS 14 offers numerous features and vivo promises that the system's intelligent control over background tasks will ensure smooth operation for up to 50 months without any major slowdowns. Additionally, the phone comes pre-installed with the standard vivo and Google suite of apps, as well as some bloatware apps.
In terms of security, the vivo V30 features an in-display fingerprint scanner and facial recognition to unlock the device. Both methods work well, with the fingerprint scanner being notably fast and accurate. However, the face unlock feature can be slower in low-light situations.
Hardware and Performance
The vivo V30 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 mobile platform, which is made using a 4nm process. It has one Cortex-A715 core clocked at 2.63GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.4GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz. It also comes equipped with an Adreno 720 GPU.
The performance of the vivo V30 is exceptionally smooth, and it can easily handle resource-intensive apps. When it comes to gaming, it provides a seamless gaming experience and supports a wide range of games. Additionally, it features Game Boost mode, 4D Game Vibration, and a Vapor Chamber cooling system.
The vivo V30 supports Extended RAM 4.0 technology, which allows you to expand your phone's RAM virtually by using the phone's internal storage. The device can use up to 12GB of its internal storage, giving it up to 24GB of total RAM.
The vivo V30 is available in the Philippines in two storage variants - 256GB and 512GB. Out of the box, 22.97GB is used on the 256GB variant. Unfortunately, the device does not support microSD expansion.

Moreover, the vivo V30's 80W FlashCharge enables the 5,000mAh battery to be charged from 0 to 100 percent in just 48 minutes. Additionally, vivo has included smart battery charging as part of the battery optimizations.
