vivo Y100 Unboxing and First Impression
In addition to the V30 Series, vivo released the vivo Y100 in April 2024. It is designed for individuals who seek speed, safety, and style to enhance their mobile experience.
The vivo Y100 features a 120Hz AMOLED display with 1,200 nits peak brightness, dual stereo speakers, a 5,000mAh battery with 80W FlashCharge technology, and the reintroduction of the photochromic design.
I had the opportunity to unbox one, and I'm eager to share my unboxing experience and initial impressions of the device. Let's start with the unboxing.
Unboxing the vivo Y100
The vivo Y100 comes in a white box with the Y100 branding on the front, while the back portion contains details such as the model number, IMEI number, serial number, and color.
Inside the Box and Accessories
After opening the lid of the box, you will find the vivo Y100 smartphone wrapped in white matte plastic. I will set aside the device for now and see what else we got in the box.
Inside are the following: a SIM card ejector tool, a quick start guide, important information (including the warranty card), an 80W FlashCharge power adapter, a USB type-C to USB-A charging cable, and a silicone case. Please note that the vivo Y100 does not come with headphones, so you will need to provide your own.
After unboxing, let us now take a look at the physical overview and my first impression of the device.
Design and Walk Around
For its design, the vivo Y100 is a visual masterpiece. It reintroduces the color-changing photochromic body design found in the vivo V25e. Available only in the Breeze Green variant, the back panel undergoes a mesmerizing color-changing effect when exposed to UV light or sunlight, without consuming additional power. Additionally, the fluorite AG glass is less susceptible to fingerprint smudges and scratches.
The vivo Y100 is available in two colors: Breeze Green and Crystal Black, both inspired by nature's beauty. My unit comes in the Breeze Green color. What’s unique about this color is that when the back panel is exposed to direct sunlight for 3 seconds, the whole back panel changes its color from light green to vibrant green.

In addition to its design, the Breeze Green variant weighs 196g and has a thickness of 7.95mm. With its flat frame, the vivo Y100 is sleek to look at and comfortable to hold.
The vivo Y100 features a 6.67-inch FullHD+ (1080 x 2400) 120Hz AMOLED display on the front. It has a centered hole-punch camera with a gold border at the top, along with an earpiece that also functions as a speaker discreetly positioned above the display. The in-display fingerprint reader is located below the screen, and the phone comes with a pre-installed screen protector for added protection.
The back of the phone features a rectangular-shaped contemporary design camera module. At first glance, it looks like it has three cameras, but it actually contains two cameras and an LED flash. According to vivo, the third element in the module houses the flicker sensor. The two cameras are a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth camera.
On the right side, you'll find the standard volume rocker button and power button.
The top of the phone has a secondary noise-canceling microphone, while the bottom features a USB Type-C charging port, downward-firing speaker, microphone, and hybrid SIM tray. The hybrid SIM tray can accommodate either a second SIM card or a microSD card for additional storage. Unfortunately, the phone does not include a 3.5mm audio jack.
Internals
The vivo Y100 boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 octa-core processor, Adreno 610 GPU, 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging.
Additionally, it comes with up to 8GB of extended RAM. The phone runs on Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14, and it is IP54 water-resistant and dust-resistant.
Cameras
The camera on the vivo Y100 features a dual-camera setup including a 50MP F1.8 primary camera with Pixel Phase Detection autofocus (PDAF) and a 2MP F2.4 depth lens. Additionally, it has an 8MP F2.0 in-display selfie camera on the front.
